Thank you for this. I have had one of the NSRL sports patches for years and thought it was real. Certainly it is better to know the truth.

I know this 'tub' well. He's been going for years.. Many accept this stuff as good..
He also has a pretty good looking 14thSS sleeve shield many think is a good 'variant' [its not!] and he used to have very nice looking Heer,,KM, Pz,, breast eagles...
In 25 years or so they will all be authentic.........

      - makes you think what they can do now huh.........

          Greetings All,

Gaspare, you are right. I believe this is the patch that you are referring too!

He had Police sport shirt patches, German Auto club patches and some old flying man patches. I could not get any examples of these because I ran out of money buying original insignia!.

Fred,,many think that 14thSS is good,,that it is a 'perlon' variant..

Yeah some common stuff, breast eagles, RAD insig. etc. but dangerous and many waste their hard erned money on the stuff..
I 'll repeat myself again :

                  Greetings All,

Here is the thread that was mentioned in the other post !($$ Sports patch.

I purchased each of these patches for $3. a piece. I was told that they were reproduction and that they were brought into the country in the seventies.Maybe they are good. They don't glow! In my opinion, that that is just MY opinion, they are all reproduction.

There is another esteemed forum that was standing right there when I purchased each and every piece that I bought. If they are real I am going to purchase the entire rubbermaid tub that they came out of.

It is up to you to make the decision if you believe that these are original or not. I have made that decision and they are reproductions.

                  Fred

NO DOUBT FOR ME those are Fakes.

Here are to more of those. Interesting is that there was a evolution/correction in the material used.

As far as I known those where produced during the early 70s on original machines in Austria.

Those where sold in Europe as original, most still are.

All of them have the same construction caracteristics & material.
I never compared in hand but was told that some others now considered as original like the TENO officer side cap eagle are from the same origin ...

The HJ Standardbearers patch is definitely without a doubt bad IMO. I see these time and time again and for silly money, and in many collections.

It looks just like some I see for sale on lots of sites, some even have tags. I've never liked that style, I prefer the short non "pointy" versions like this one.

I agree 100% on the 14th Galizien shield and would wonder if the same hand made all the Schalburg Korps cap wings which were flying around at the same time ?

In circa 1990 there were also a whole range of fake BeVo volunteer shields with the same reverse features all of which were polyester-based and which melted and glowed. I saw them for sale (as repros) both by the roll and individually ... all cut with pinking scissors ... I was told (however incorrectly) that they 'Came out of Texas' and had 'been made on a captured and re-assembled loom' ?

About 15 years ago, I was at the Pomona, CA "Great Western" show. A guy walked up to an empty table and dumped out a large pile of the following patches. Myself as well as many others, each bought a selection of them relatively cheap. The seller played stupid hoping the buyers thought they were real, the low price was the first give-away.....I did see many well known dealers buying them up fast.

I will say this, almost all glow under black light and they all melt when burn tested. With that being said, they are all well made, and I see them being sold as originals on many web sites.

I'll try to post detailed scans for your study.

Remember, all of these are "fakes".
