    40 Year Old reproduction insignia

    Greetings All,

This year one of my goals while I was at the SOS was to track down the "Tub" of repro cloth insignia that I had seen 2 years prior. I found it a purchased as many different types that I saw. The guy was selling them as reproductions at $10. for 3. Great deal for some good looking cloth.

These have been in the collector market for at least 35-40 years. A few of these are considered original and traded and sold as such.I believe that these came into the collecter market through the show circuit.

The insignia that uses ay white thread glows. The only exception is the HJ Flag Bearers patch. These were sold by the vendor out of a plastic bag for $10. each None of the other patches glow and the pink on the HJ fire police patch actually looks orange under a black light!! The insignia is also made with cotton thread and passes a burn test.

I have 15 pieces of insignia to post and comment on. Please hold your comments till I am done posting all of the pieces. Thanks.

HJ Standard bearers sleeve patch. This patch does not glow and is made with cotton thread. The keys are in the weave and construction. The tips of the diamond are too pointy and the color red should be a bit more towards an orange color.

HJ Fire police or fire service member. The white area glows. The pink turns Orange under a black light, which is usually a good sign. The construction of the back is the key again as with most of these patches. Thread over the foldline. Embroidery on the back where there is none on the front.

RAD Flatwire Officers overseas cap insignia. The obverse construction and design are almost flawless!! The back again is the give away. Extra thread over the fold lines and woven on a black base material. Originals are commonly done on brown.

RAD Enlisted overseas cap insignia. Again the obverse is fantastic! Cut and folded you might not notice it on a cap!! The back is the down fall again!

SHUMA Flatwire cap insignia! Nice excecution on the front. The back shows the incorrect weave patterns.

DLV Signaller or communications specialist. The design is just incorrect on this one! There should be an "H" where the swastika is. Overall the front doesn't look bad. The back again shows the incorrect weave style.
