Named General Staff Officer Tunic

This was my sole "big" pick up from the SOS. Service tunic to Major iG Hermann Kesselheim, Ia to the 17.ID, KIA in Russia January 1945 after having gone missing in December 1944. Many thanks to Johnny R and Naxos for their long-distance research in looking the Herr Major up while I was in Louisville.

Some shots with all the gew gaws on it. The tunic had not been stored well, but has cleaned up pretty nicely.

I guess you are busy wearing it around the house like Xipe Totec, my Wife was convinced winter camping is fun so we are headed out to do something I did far too much in the Army in Germany. I will set up an IV with Korbel and hope to wake up in the morning. At least the food will be better and I cannot miss movement with the truck keys in my pocket. Nice tunic. I would have bought it in a heartbeat.

John, the family pooch died in a random paper shredder accident last August, so no soup for you! Camping in February? That worked out so well for 6.Armee....

Outstanding tunic!

Major Hermann Keßelheim born on December 09, 1912 in Neuwied-Irlich near Koblenz went missing in 1944 (The Volksbund has him missing since August 25, 1944). According to reports from fellow officers he died in January 1945 north of Leszno, Poland.

I think that they've been that way since they were put on when he went into the General Staff given how they are attached, wear, etc., but I guess you can never be sure. Since it's a named piece I am not going to mess with them.
