I would appreciate if anyone could help me out with regards to this photo.

I´m an edged weapon collector and have no clue about the uniform, rank, insignia, headgear of this German soldier. E.g. what type of cap is he wearing? Which troop unit did he belong to?

Any information would be very much appreciated! Thank you

Hi !!

He is a Obergefreiter (Senior Corporal in US standards) of Heer. He is wearing M36 or 40 tunic and M43 hat so picture was taken after 1943.
His shoulderboards have bright waffenfarbe - most likely infantry...

unless He is wearing GJR hat - because visor on the hat is a bit short - then he may also be mountain trooper, but thats rather unlikely

considering how tall his boots are - maybe cavalry/recon ??.. just a theory though
