Edelweiss badge with enamel swas in center

    Hello
I am trying to get my hands on a WP/Soldbuch leather cover that has an Edelweiss badge with a black enamel swastika in the center pinned to the cover. It has no stem, just the flower. Is this a type of Mountain Troops badge or is it a traditions badge of some type? Thanks in advance for your help.

I have seen these before, I do not think they were used by WH military units but they were used by the SA/NSDAP and I suspect some are just general souvenir pins from the NS time period.

The edelweiss you speak of is for the SA and NSKK.

Many thanks Bob....I am picking it up tonight. Its a large leather wallet type holder with 6 internal slots, and this nicely toned edelweiss attached to the cover. I will post pics tonight after i get it. Sadly the women says she remembers papers being in it at one time....but have been lost over the years...

These are the types of cheaper ones I think are probably just period souvenirs or "tinnies" for day events etc.-

Thanks Johnny, the one on the wallet seems high quality with great enamiling.
Inside the wallet looks like an outline of a smaller edelweiss badge, and maybe rank pips? I will post tonight after i pick it up.

I would guess a grab bag of GI souvenirs, the "Y" with an umlaut is odd, you usually only see that in Dutch and rarely. The pictures look like professional shots that were sold in canteens etc. or elsewhere. Most soldiers did not have cameras and bought photo sets or had copies made for souvenirs. Looks like a dedication from a woman to a man? I cannot read the first word, it maybe be a man's name. Naxos can read this, you may want to PM him.

Thanks Johnny...The photos look like a mix of his own pics, and professional shots as you mentioned. There is one KIA shot of a Russian tank w/solidiers. I am in the process of scanning them for the forum. There is almost 50 pics.
