Field Made Ring? Help on ID.

I picked this ring up with a small lot of items including a M43 cap with a Windhund badge attached. This can be seen on the cloth headgear forum. This ring came along with the items and I am looking for help on its history. I have attempted to search the forum and the internet but I have no idea where to even start. The only thing the the pictures do not show is that the ring is very light weight and it is a small ring size. Thank you all in advance for your help!

only thing I can make of it are two initials?

A & E within a Heart, maybe for his sweetheart, though the heart is not perfect and this is only a guess.
