    Out Junking!

    Greetings All,

Yesterday I went junking with the wife! I picked up the following:

    A beat aluminum Police buckle.
a zinc KVK1st Kl. that ate all of its finish.
    a 99th Inf Bn patch
A 1863 dated 1861 Springfield musket from the Providence Tool Company
a British Enfield bayonet with scabbard of th CW period.

    Glad I have varied interests!!

    Fred

The Springfield looks nice, there is a place in Whitewater that has an incredible amount of original 19th Century parts for restoring sights and other missing odds and ends.

I got some stuff from them to restore a 3 band 1863 Union marked Tower Enfield I inherited, they are slow but they have the parts etc.

                    Greetings All,

PzV, It is only a slang term. I meant that I was out antiqueing and hitting the resale shops. If people threw away muskets I would become a garbageman!!

                          Hey Fred,
I saw that buckle on the way back from MN, but I had to "hit the head" and I never git back to look at it! Good scores!

Now is the time to get out there before all the tourists pick everything over. I picked up a WWI German Gas mask with can in Iowa for 15 bucks

That's a sweet contract `61 rifle-musket. Looks untouched and not overcleaned like so many. Any inspector cartoches remaining on the stock?
