Hi,
I was wondering if anyone could clarify the range of Drill/HBT uniforms that were in use by the Heer Infantry between 1933 and 1945. If I am not mistaken (please correct me if I am wrong), the M33 Drillich was initially constructed in natural, unbleached cotton or cotton/rayon blends with an HBT weave that proved especially durable, but relatively impractical due to easy soiling. This led to the introduction of the M37 HBT which was of reed-green color. After this were the M40 HBT, M42 HBT, and finally the M43 HBT.
Did I leave any out?
Could anyone tell me what the differences were between these blouses? As for the accompanying trousers, did the pattern remain the same from the M37 through the M43, or were there changes in their design as well. If so, what were these changes?
I have also seen mention of HBT breeches on the Internet. Did they in fact exist? If they did, when were they introduced?
Thanks for your help!
Doug
