    Hello! What will be thoughts on authenticity of this obergefreiter arm patch? Has anyone ever encountered such backing cloth? Are tresses look correct for period made piece?

        It looks like either early war tress on field grey or a golden KM tress on field grey. I have seen backed rank patches and this one looks good to me.

          Fred and Naxos thanks for your comments! The wool of this patch is 100% feldblau with silver wash faded away from tresses. Anyway this is original period piece! Thanks

            Agree, looks a good original luft chevron, though backed examples I have seen tend to be KM as Fred said. Often hard to be sure of true colour when looking at pics on a computer.

              Yes its a origimal pre war luft chevron in silver wire tress not the later aluminium wire tress

                  a few army rank chevrons with similar backing,the example to the right has been stripped of rank and most of the backing went with
