Looks like a nice LW tunic to me. Neat shoulder straps, they look like a private purchase item added to an issue tunic. Better pictures would be nice. One thing I noticed is the lack of the sleeve rank to match the gulls? Steve .
I am not a fan of non matching shoulder boards(not matching the tunic material). I am not saying that they were not added during the WW2 period, but I would always wonder.
I agree with Steve on this! This mis-match is totally possible, swapping out blank factory woolen shoulder straps for tailor made unit numbered "Trikot" quality ones. Just an upgrade, or personalized touch, period done for a "best dress" (ausgehe) uniform.
I've also seen it the otherway around too; a tailored trikot (striped) wool uniform with sew-in standard woolen shoulderstraps, again with numerals. Another swap example, so the other way around...again a mismatch...
Reason: perhaps the soldier got transfered? Numeral got changed?
Only thing is that its hard to prove when it was done... Yesterday or 70 years ago? Such a combination would not turn me off at all!
Nice customized (personalized) touch with upgraded insignia!
