The smaller trop heer cap example looks to be an original, the middle one is strange, and is certainly not the issue type, though it might be foreign made, Italian perhaps, but it is more likely to be a copy, I dont know for certain. The luft is not one I know much about, though its not one I would have in my collection.

Top one is a Heer removed cap eagle and is legit, the other Heer eagle is an odd duck... If its legit it would be Italian made in my opinion, but I wouldn't pay a lot for it unless one can be sure where it was picked up. Interesting bird though. Matt

The DAK breast eagle is indeed an odd duck. No doubt about the other ones all good!
The center one is quite possibly Italian made for DAK use. I like the fact that there is a reference number or price indication on the back side done in purple pencil, (often seen on documents) that for me is an indicator of it being a period 1940's piece.

            Nick,

I am with ya on liking the middle bird, there is just something about it that I like. It almost looks like a turkey where the breast highlights don't make it all the way across the chest but has that something about it. Matt

Thank you all, I had my doubts about the breast eagles.

                Greetings All,

                It is all about opinions!!

I don't care for the middle eagle at all. It is not vague enough for an Italian eagle and it looks to me that the backing is sewn on to the eagle. I do not care for the base cloth it is built on nor the execution of the construction. For me I would expect to see more attention to detail and quality in the manufacture for an DAK/Africa eagle.

                It is all about opinions!

Well I blew it royally with my comments...The purple pencil of course appears on the LW eagle backing, which is 100% good,
not on the DAK turkey...My mistake!
I am more leaning towards Fred's opinion now...Who knows? Again strange bird!

The more I look at it the less I am digging it but what the hell, interesting conversation piece to say the least in any tropical riker mount. Matt
