Hi,
I've tried searching the forums without much luck. I wonder if anyone can shed any light/ knowledge on the amount of wartime use of subdued NCO tresse on collars and shoulder boards? Looking at a variety of period pictures recently I've noticed that most (nearly all) NCO's seem to be wearing the brighter aluminium tresse rather than subdued. I'm wondering if NCO's felt the brighter tresse carried more authority/ that the subdued looked a bit 'naff' etc. You would have thought that the subdued would be more desireable (snipers etc). I would appreciate your thoughts!
Is it possible that subdued tresse looks the same as aluminium in a black and white photo???
