    late war summer uniforms

    Hi everybody,

I was wondering if somebody can give me an idea of the following:

during the summers from 1943 onwards how popular were the HBT uniforms or lightweight summer uniforms? it seems most period pics seem to show troops still wearing their wool uniforms in summer, does anybody have pics of lighter weight garments in use? Were these uniforms considered rare at the front or highly sought after in the summer months? I can't imagine wearing wool in the summer in Italy or even France!

hERE IS AN EXAMPLE OF THE FIELD OR THEATER MADE SUMMER LIGHT WEIGHT BLOUSE, NON GERMAN FABRIC. I was stationed in Germany in 1962. The local tailors in our small town would take an Army poncho and blanket we brought to them and make a nice non regulation jacket for us to wear. Common practice. I wish it still fit!!
