The color would match WWII DRK but I am not sure this is WWII, Nick G. or someone else that collects non-Wehrmacht items would know.

DRK had pigeon gray collar facings on their greatcoats....you can rule that out... Not DRK...or at least NOT war time DRK! (post war?)
Also DRK always had sew-in shoulderstraps... (and the area does not look like its been tampered with (not closed shut)

I have a feeling that its municipal strassenbahn or kleinbahn (tram-railway) related. I have a war time strassenbahn uniform in this color!
This also explains the LACK of shoulder boards! It being a civilian uniform coat! The fine pebbling is also a feature of civilian style German uniform buttons

Here some period images! These show darker shade coats but each city had its own uniform code, so colors and styles varied! button colors and designs differed,
could be silver or gold, or buttons with klein-bahn insignia or city crest (stadt wappen)

Note "PST" (feind hort mit) poster on the tram! (enemy is listening)

Here the entire uniform (sold to me as described as Reichsbahn...incorrect...)
Here displayed as "Volkssturm" with Italian pouches...

None of this btw proves that the mantel posted in image 1 is wartime...
Here some strassenbahn men (Schaffner) from 1953 in woolen overcoats...
One with heavy winter collar! Must be cold!
