    Kavallarie Schutzen Regiment Waffenrock

    Gents,

Posted for your consideration, a "stone mint" 11th Kavallarie Schutzen Regiment Rittmeister's Waffenrock. Although the insignia is of the later style aluminum vintage, the breast eagle is a beautifully patinated early silver specimen. The tunic however, is not named.

Great "Rock" with a superb unit history (4th Light Division and 9th Panzer).

      Beautiful, especially that eagle.
Is that a K.R.18 Rock behind it?

        Hi Mike,

I was going to e-mail you to see how the recent slew of german shows have been for you...no need to now! A beautiful rock!

I recognize the reserve Cav rock in the background since you BEAT me to it!

          JC/Gary,

Indeed an 18th Kavallarie Regiment "rock" in the background. Reserve LT in stone mint condition. The 18th Kavallarie Regiment was garrisoned in Kornwestheim (Stuttgart) before the war.

Very nice Michael, is it named? The reason it caught my eye is that I own a tunic of A.A. 35 which, as I'm sure you know, was formed from K.R.18 IN 1939.

              18th

              JC,

              Great grouping you have there!

The 18th Waffenrock is named but, as most reserve officers do not appear in the rank lists, they are very difficult to research.

I know what you mean Michael; my tunic is named and I haven't had much luck researching it. Most of this unit (A.A.35) went on to form Reiterverband Böselager, but I cannot find his name on their rank lists, which leads me to believe that he must have remained as Divisional reconnaisance with I.D.35, but I haven't been able to find out too much on that avenue of research either.

                  Right

                  JC,

The pre-war Kav, Schutzen, Reiter, and Recon units went through a number of conversions before the end of the war which makes them much harder to research.

I am of the opinion that the golden-yellow piped Kavallarie Waffenrocks are perhaps the most desireable given that these were real armored combat units.

                      Awesome!

Mike, Awesome uniforms. I really like the 18th out of Stuttgart. Here are two shots of my Kav Uniforms, I guess that I need a Waffenrock The 18th would be the ticket.

You may remember when we got the Fully Piped Kav uniform at Gunzie?. Not sure if mine is Schutzen or Schule?

The uniform in the back is unnamed from an 18th Kav Oberst. My hope is to find a photo of the former 18th Kav Commanders and ID the uniform from the photos. It has a number of unique originally applied loops for awards.

                        It was Reichertshofen NOT Gunzie!

Nice tunic...it would be even nicer if it turned out to be von Kleist's.

BTW. Michael, there was a Lt.d.R. called 'Henning Oehler' in 3. Schwadron KR 18. if that's any help.

                              JC,

Thanks, will "unwrap" the 18th Waffenrock tomorrow and see if Oehler is a match.
