I'm with Luca here
not saying they're bad, but i have never been of big fan of dark green straps with rayon piping (i mean they're dark green on my screen)

Why? I have seen several 100% original sets of dark green,piped in rayon.

Why ?
perhaps because i don't meet any allied vet who brought back this kind of tremendous stuff....maybe because i used a bad formulation and forgot to add "regulation" straps, as rayon piping was allowed for the private purchased shoulderstraps worn on the walking out uniform from 1937 or 38 (don't remember exactly), because i forgot that i had one pair of rayon piped dark green straps at home (pic below), because i forgot about the well known german manufacturers inertia, because i forgot to never say never, because it's late and i'm tired...that's why Glenn...

Good,and as for the straps I posted,they are factory produced and not private purchase.

were they produced before 1940 using the rayon piping that was strictly meant for the private purchased straps used with the walking out Feldbluse or were they produced after 1940 ignoring the change of base cloth but not the change of material for the piping ?

I think rayon started to be used by factories as early as 39. I also believe dark green shoulder straps were produced (using rayon piping) well into the 1940's based on tunics with these dates,bearing dark green badge cloth collars.

Yes,like some factories continued using the dark green collars well into the 1940's.

It is an interesting point that synthetic and wool piped straps were manufactured contemporaneously. Generally we tend to think that (non Feldbluse type) dark green straps will have wool piping and that those made of field grey cloth will use synthetic piping but of course that was not always the case...
