Tropical Tunic M-44

    Tropical Tunic M-44

    Can I get a reading on this Tropical Tunic I picked up at the SOS last week? Has a M-44 Silk Eagle. Stamped B44 inside with a RBNr. 0/0368/0024. There is also a number 221 stamped inside. Buttons are marked R.D.

    A friend at the SOS had a similar Tunic, but, it was dated 1945.

    Looks good to me and all original..Nice find.


    The 221 number is either a cloth bolt number or a tunic part number.

      I'm not commenting on the tunic, but the eagle is an m40, I think, but has been applied like an m43. I've never seen one with it behind the pocket flap like this has.

          A very common way to apply these eagles later in the war,faster and easier.


          Eagle was sewn before the pocket was added and often seen done this way.


          Here is an example but printed.

                      Thanks for that Glenn, I have not seen this before, but it makes good sense, speeds up production. Looks like a good tunic to me, nice condition.

                              What you paid for it at the SOS is the obvious answer. Value is a momentary thing established when money changes hands. A change in circumstances alters value.
