    Converted DAK tunic

This tunic looks like it started life as an enlisted tunic, then had an officers sword slit added, pocket flaps modified, collar "greened" and elongated, and an upper neck closure button hole added.

The reason I say the tunic pocket flaps have been changed is the sharp pointy scallops instead of the typical shallow points. It's possible the center pleats are false as well, and were added for effect.

Overall, an interesting tunic that I would welcome your comments on.
    regards, Robert

Some nice work here - I guess even in a southern front environment, you should always be prepared to wear your dagger.

...and wear it a lot, given the leather reinforcement!

I like the amount of wear on the jacket. Any comments or questions, fire away!

A very interesting piece Robert and I daresay original.
Can you see much evidence of collar tabs having been removed from the collar and the eagle from the right breast?
The breast pocket flaps definitely look to have been redone to give them a more pointy appearance.

...and the lower pockets appear to be sewn down? Judging from these pictures I'd say the pocket flaps are a manufacturer's variation as the thread used in their construction is that used to construct the rest of the tunic's shell, differing from that used on the alterations. Plenty of variations in 'pointiness' exist. Looks like a casual walking out tunic for less formal occasions?
I'd also plumb for a period conversion - the workmanship looks convincing to me, and if you place yourself in the officer's mindset, you'll get the feel for the environment this is intended for.
Note the larger sized breast pockets? A soldbuch would easily slot in them. Another point of interest is the 42 date along with an RB.N....
                          Worth Investigating...
                          Regards,

I should also mention a feature that I haven't seen before, size markings on both the button side and button-hole side of the tunic.

                              Yes,
I also noted that, but other than a factory 'woopsi' cannot explain it...great to see something different!
