The rest arrived today, and while not Panzer insignia, I really like it. The vet's info is all in the pamphlet and licence (he was qualified on light, medium, heavy tanks and a number of other fighting vehciles), and I'll return the booklet to the son after reading through it - neat stuff!
The vet related (to his son) that the insignia was removed from mostly dead enemy crew members during the battle of the bulge, which makes sense when you see how the PAB badges were removed - they look like they were literally torn off. Given the amount of German armor used in that battle and what happened to most of it after the weather cleared, it is sobering to think of all the tank crews that took a beating during this campaign.
