Did General staff ALWAYS have the different tabs? I have an EXTREMELY high quality Nurnberg private tailored Jacket (vet or Gstab), with a Erel hat, (cloth on the hat is almost a dead match to the wool on the tunic), and the boards show NO signs of ever having any Medical cyphers or cyphers whatsoever, full oberst set, very large medal/ribbon bar, and two loops for badges. Also, did General Stab tunics EVER have cyphers, as in roman numerals or numbers, or would they be absent any? Im just trying to figure out if this is a Vet or GStab tunic, would be nice if it had the fancy GStab collar tabs, but it dosnt, and it dosnt have the medical cyphers, so Im not sure what it was. Just curious.
P.S. There is a button on the wearers right side under the board in the middle of the board affixed to the jacket where it appears an Aguilette would go, I have one, and it lines up perfectly. I have to pay dues, hence, cant upload photos at the moment.

Thanks for posting the picture of "your guy." It is always nice when you can put a face and name to a tunic.

There were a large number of Army officers and enlisted men assigned to OKH/OKW that wore crimson waffenfarbe with regular style tabs. If there is no evidence for Vet devices that is a likely explanation.

Very Nice Kurt, you are going to have to sell me those pants now, they are too short for your tunic skirt You can always get some red paint and add a couple CM.

Great looking waffenrock, Kurt. I've been looking for one of those for years with no luck. Your example would be the center piece of any collection.

Quite a few discussions going on here at one time now... I would have guessed your tunic belonged to a Veterinarian as Officers assigned to the General Staff took great pride in their special Kolbenstickerei collar tabs. Johnny R seems to know more, however... Could somebody post the pics for you? I would if you sent them to me via email.

PD Sergeant --- thanks, I consider it one of my favorites!

Johnny R --- now who could I possibly sell those to...?

The OKH/OKW waffenfarbe is described in the Angolia/Schlicht set, Volume one and in Wartime books too. The personnel assigned to these units wore regular tabs with the same color piping as GS officers. The specific color varies and Vet overlaps and/or is usually identical to GS/OKH etc. The color chart in the Angolia book shows the range of variation. Earlier it was darker like Nebel/JAG and then became lighter leaning toward Vet.
