Hello,

Here are some known versions of the "Afrika" & "Afrikakorps" cuff titles. Photos from "Afrikakorps - Tropical Uniorms, Insignia & Equipment of the German Soldier in World War II", ISBN: 0-7643-1920-5, pages 334-339. Page 334 below.

I like the "Afrika" c.t. which started this thread. Has a nice wear, straight & even letters and nice camel hair base + I had a vet buy VERY similar (depending on backing) - but that is just my humble opinion.

Thanks for additional photos of other variations. To me it looks like the CT that started this thread is a copy of the early LW CT, from the letter style. Bob's comment about the type of lettering found on original Afrika CT and these good examples shown demonstrate this too. No expert opinion just mine...

I have never seen an Afrika cuff title without capped letters.

I am not following the purpose of comparing a Wehrmacht "Afrika" CT to a Luftwaffe one. The styles of lettering are not the same.

IMO, the back will hold the key. I like some of the details, but I do not like the lettering of the one in question. It seems that everyone is giving it a regarding its originality to the tunic.

The CT that started this thread has lettering somewhat like the LW blue CT post #40 is what i am comparing it to. Just an observation, always trying to learn more. Would defer to You and the other more experienced members as to the validity of this CT.

Hello everyone,

It would be very nice to see the reverse of the "Afrika" c.t. at issue.

I agree that known & accepted examples of this cuff show "caps" on the lettering, as the other many examples shown, including my example depicted below. Yet, I have good reason to conclude that the other variation exists.

There was a friend of mine that bought one of these AFRIKA cuff titles from a reproduction manufacturer named Antonella out of Austria back in the 80s. I remember telling him that the palms leaves on his looked nothing like palm leaves. I think that this one in question was made by the same reproduction maker, if not it is extremely similar.
