Opinions on m40(?) tunic

Hello

I have been offered this tunic, but have some doubts about it's originality.

I have only 1 picture, I hope that is enough. ( I have enlighten it, because it was a very dark picture)

What I find strange is that the tunic has but 4 buttons, has no belthook holes and the pockets have been strangely sewn.

Maybe an officers tunic?

Please help me out with this one!

I have no faith that this is a WWII german issue tunic. The pockets,buttons,cut and insignia placement are bad! Gefreiter stripes and Lt's. shoulder boards. Collar tabs not folded and just sewn on. Somebody humped this up and wants to sell it as good. STAY AWAY FROM IT!

I cannot tell what it is in the photo but I agree with Fred. I do not think it is an original uniform.

Agree that it is bad due to the chevron being at the elbow and the officers boards. This may have been a civilian jacket from around the time with added insignia and buttons. Other than that you need to run away from this item.

Exactly, the 4 button front is a dead-give-away that something is terribly wrong
with this piece...better pictures are not needed!

I would like to see better pictures if there are any just to try to figure what is was. It is always interesting to see what they are comining up with for generating things like this.

Thanks a lot for your opinions, I know what I have to do now :P

I have asked the seller for more pictures, so that we can clear out more.

What wonders me is that the seller got the jacket and more stuff from his uncle, who fought in the war.

He doesn't knows very well what he has, and askes the wrong prices.
Some other stuff, like lowboots ( I already showed on this forum) and personal gear are good original pieces.

My question: how did this wrong tunic slipped in his pocession if it came with the other gear? Can it not be some modified or personal acchieved tunic?
