    HG Luft Unterfedlwebel combat tunic....

    Hi,
One of our members is selling this HG combat tunic. I'm already getting ready to buy it but want an opinion on it since I don't know much about tunics....this will be my first. The insignias looks good but what about the tunic any comments?

Hi Rene, I have looked at the pics provided several times. The only thing that struck me as odd was the use of greatcoat collar rank tabs (with the integral NCO's tress) on a flight blouse. Maybe just a case of what was available at the time, as the owner could have been promoted in the field? Just an observation and not a criticism of the tunic's originality.
    Cheers, Ade.

      Hi Rene,

Adrian is correct, this flying blouse has incorrect great-coat tabs. In addition, they appear hand sewn, they would machine sewn if original to the blouse. This said, the price reflects this, an all original HG flying blouse would be VERY expensive.

      Regards,
      John

        Rene,

Here are two examples of tabs that are original to the blouse they are on. Notice the thread used to machine sew them is of matching waffenfarbe to the tab. First Flak.

            Hi guys,
So is the rank NCO tabs the only thing I should weary? Is the insignias at least originals and what about the HG NCO Cuff band, shoulder boards and the tunic itself?

            Kind regards

              Rene,

The eagle looks original, as do the Unterfeldwebel straps. No offense towards goochjr, but I doubt the title is original to the blouse if the tabs are not; and they are not. Note how crooked one tab (the left side of the blouse) is sewn on to the collar, not parallel to the collar's edge, incorrect and would never be allowed. There should be tresse around the collar for this rank. I cannot add much more from the photos, would need more clear pictures or a hands on inspection.

Rene, can you activate your PM?

                Hi John,
Well I was mostly interested in the insignias more then the tunic especially the cuffband. Lets suppose that the tabs were later added. It is still a good item if the cuffband and shoulder boards are original and came with the tunic. I have seen that the NCO cuffband alone is valued almost as much as the tunic alone.
I have asked goochjr some of my concerns.

I decided not to get the HG tunic since I really don't collect them. So some ucky member is going to get this rare tunic...good luck.
I am interested in the HG NCO Cuff title so if anybody has one let me know?
