    Medical Boards

Has anyone seen Medical officers boards like this without the Staff of Asclepius? I can't find reference to medical units not wearing it after Senior NCO ranks. Where there Admin offcers that were not Doctors etc.

Just by Chance I have an NCO set to the same unit. Same deal, no staff device.

The NCO's could also wear the aesculap device as a trade badge on the sleeve, I believe. As for officers I haven't seen them on a tunic without the device.

I know that viewing color shades on a computer monitor tends to pretty subjective. The shade of blue on my monitor looks pretty light. Any chance that the Leutnant board is really transport?

The flash lightens it, it is cornflower blue not transport or TSD. According to Angolia there were Gas decontamination units piped in blue pre-1940 and Medical Rail Hospitals. The numbers are brass and RH period late 20s early 30s+

              Thats why I always ask.

Angolia also lists that Medical Detachments wore the number of their Division and Senior Medical Officer Candidates wore the number of their detachment (with trade badge on the sleeve). Those regs are listed as the end of 1934 - and I notice the number devices are Reichswehr pattern.

Thanks, we will see what else surfaces, there also were pharmacy officers that were not HV or Sonderfuhrer. These have always puzzled me a bit.

HV "Hosptial" members would have the dark green waffenfarbe part of the board, and the green thread in between the Russian braid along with HV devices IIRC.

Yes, thank you. I looked thorugh the HV medical ranks and insignia. I am just wondering if there were officers in the Medical arm that were not MDs and did not wear the staff. The book on WH Medical units by Buchner says Pharmacy specialists (HV) were assigned other personel etc. I am thinking this may be an early gas decontamination unit or some other type of non-hospital type function. IMO They would need administrative officers to run the day to day operations MDs would not be involved in directly. Not sure, just an idea.
