That is one beautiful looking cap Richard. I'd say the reason that it didn't receive a great deal of comments is because of the thread it was posted in. With so many quality pieces posted in that thread, perhaps a thread dedicated to this cap would have been better.
I'd love to see the complete uniform if you don't mind dedicating a thread to it. Perhaps all of von Hulsen's uniforms in the one thread would be very fitting.

A Panzer general cap WITH name and provenance......just SUPERB!!!! I love the look and quality of this cap, the bullion insignia work is spectacular, I will second Mark Gibson opinion on a specific thread for this cap and any other items you have of this general.

I know what you mean by some "opinions" on this and other forums BUT in the end, people who realy are seriusly interested in this type of high end regalia AND it's history, will know what to look for and who to ask opinions about it, so don't worry to much of this type of one liner opinions.

That is one Outstanding Generals tunic Thanks for showing.
Even though its a later (tailored piece) the upper pockets appear to be the smaller size found on earlier tropical first patterns ? Good to know some of the DAK Generals tunics are still around these days. Like the cuffs too.

Would like to see more of the items you mention from von Hulsen. Great to find the missing tunic too Even Rommel's leather overcoat went missing during the filming of the "Desert Fox" back in '57 never to be see again in public, but i bet it is sitting in someone's closet somewhere....

And Paul, have to agree with the others. The tunic that started the thread has features that i would not expect to see on a DAK Generals tunic. The insignia and lack of a National emblem among other things.

Mark, Federico, & Tim,

I almost posted photos of a number of panzer general's wraps, but with second and third thoughts, undertook a study of how other similar wraps were discussed. It tends to be crucify first...some discussion possible, but most met with extreme skepticism. I do understand, as it is the way I approach such items myself. I have seen way more that I deem as fake, or contrived, than real.

I don't care to defend a number of uniforms by showing 25+ photos of each trying to convince people or produce 20 other collectors who will all sign statements with their positive opinions. I do enjoy sharing, but I am not a masochist.

Each I own is quite different and exhibit very different exteriors and interiors, only one is a converted issue wrap that I'm convinced was period done. I attribute this to the manner in which it was purchased and the price and condition. It was very probably a genuine POW worn piece and had a lot of forensic evidence pointing to that. I may post it some day for rollicking discussion.

I will show a few other cap shots including a photo of the other von Hulsen cap, that I received permission to post by its owner about a year ago. Here is that cap:

Here are a couple of detail shots of Rudolph Sieckenius's overseas cap. All the caps I have are quite different. I also have his wrap and pants which are not the one another member posted and thought that was the name in his friend's wrap. It was in Suterlein script, illegible, and dated a couple of years too early for Sieckenius. His name and date on the tailor tag in mine is typed in and is dated 1943, the year in which he actually became a major general. Interesting fellow and died in hand to hand combat with the Russians, see the book "Rommel's Lieutenants" for an interesting read on the "Scapegoat General".

It appears to be an early SS VT tunic( the first tunic) with some slight modifications to the backside and bad insignias added.

And for it to be a 'DAK' generals tunic it would have to be attributable to a general that actually served in Africa, rather than anywhere else around the Med. or Black Sea.

It is interesting to see it is badged for Infantry while he was a Cavalry officer commanding RR 2 and then Panzer Gren. with 9. Schützen-Brigade during that general time period. When that tunic was made he was in training at the Panzerschule in Munster.
