Heer HBT tunic modified for Medical Officer

I just scored this today from an old collection... a 1940 dated Heer HBT tunic (drill? There's no bandage pocket and no belt ramp holes) that was tailored for wear by a Medical Major. The modifications to the tunic:

    - addition of a bottle green collar with 2 closure hooks.

    - front buttons removed, flap folded over and SEVEN new holes made to give it the Reichswehr look. The old holes were sewn shut (you can't see them, the flap is folded over) and the new buttons were moved inward. This guy was smaller than the HBT tunic he found!

    - cuffs shortened somewhat - hand sewn.

The condition of the tunic is fabulous. The most wear is to the breast eagle, but I stongly believe it is original to the tunic. I think this was created and barely worn after that. Enjoy!

This does not look like it was an issue HBT, where and how is it dated? Can you take a close up of the cloth on the exterior.

What does the underside of the collar look like, I think it started life as something else. I would say RH? but the 1940 date is Odd as is the color. Maybe your camera is making it look really green. I can see the HBT weave.

It's an issue piece. I can't make out the name though "MAX MANUEL - NENNENG" is what it looks like but that can't be right. The numbers are

                      39 40
                      114
                      67 60
                      F40

                          Sweet jeezus...

The pockets ARE factory applied and the tunic might be an SS one. The Heer tunics had six buttons, SS had five. This one had FIVE...

Here's a link to a lousy reenacting copy of this garment:

Give a man an opinion and you feed him for a day,
teach a man to use the "search" function on the WAF and you feed him for a lifetime.

I guess if there are no signs of prior waist draw string strap/tunnel its not a pocketless 5 button (Heer) work tunic (with added pockets + collar) but instead indeed a ss pattern with pockets factory applied. Heer HBTs with pockets were of course 6 button types. Even more interesting! GREAT score!
