    questions on Officer Breeches

    I have these breeches for many years - they came with an M36 Oberleutnant tunic.

    The material is simmilar to WWI officer tunics - The buttons are marked "FOR GENTLEMEN".

    Are they German? What period?

    Regards, Hardy

    They look like WWII period German Military breeches, the buttons are common on tailor made period clothing. That type of narrow waist wide band of cloth is an alternative to wearing a belt or suspenders.

      Thank you John;

      Here is an image for color comparison to a M36 tunic

        The breeches came in every green-blue to brown green earth tone shade possible and the dyes have oxidized to boot, there is no "correct" color for any tailored clothing just a acceptable range of different colors ranging from stone gray to forest green.
