    White skijäger patch, opinions

Hello, just got this for a few euro's. It looks OK to me, and very rare but I would like to know what you think of it.

The patch has a white backing for a skisuite I supose and was onces sewed on.

      Sander,
I believe that white Skijaeger patches have been discredited in the past - why would such insignia be worn on garments intended solely for snow camouflage? If you do a search in this forum you'll find examples of original BeVo patches for the field uniform. Supposedly, original examples also exist that are machine-embroidered on field-gray reworked wool, but there're some questions about these.
All that said, none of the many Skijaeger veterans interviewed in Georg Gunter's divisional history ever saw the sleeve insignia. Division personnel continued wearing the regular Jaeger insignia or none at all. It's also questionable if the one-piece stamped cap insignia ever made it to the front lines. The Skijaeger cap insignia that was worn was fabricated by attaching a brass, hand-made ski (from shell casings) to the normal Jaeger oakleaves insignia.

Carsten is right. There's good photographic evidence of the cap insignia in wear and of members of the brigade\division that had come from mountain units still wearing their GJ insignia but absolutely nothing of the sleeve insignia.

A white version also makes little sense for the reason Carsten states.
