    Not likely.
I'm not speaking to the authenticity of the item...I'm just noting its never been sewn.

It seems every vet to it "off a dead German", but in reality, most "took it from a warehouse." This is a German navy eagle that is right off a roll, never sewn on a uniform.

          That's true
I had a roll of 250 closely similar to the one that started the thread

if you look closely you can tell it was torn off, does anyone know where it was worn?

No, I'm afraid all the opinions you've gotten that this eagle has never been sewn to a uniform are correct. Had this been on a uniform, the edges would have been folded under and sewn as on this example which WAS cut from a uniform:
              http://dev.wehrmacht-awards.com/foru...&postcount=109

This type of golden-colored eagle is of the Kriegsmarine (Navy). It would have been intended to be sewn on a Navy uniform. But as already been stated, yours was never sewn on a uniform.

              Hope this helps.

I agree this eagle had never been sewn onto any tunic, midi, etc. It was cut from a roll of eagles. Let me see now it was your grandfather's uncle? That would make him your great, great uncle

                  KM Eagle

                  Hello,
I guess this was cut from the tunic of a member of the Afrika Korps. Cool, I guess it is worth more now!

JC620 the folks who commented on this thread are 100% correct. I don't know why it is so hard to believe it. If you are having problems with something as simple as this you may want to take up another hobby.

                  Regards,
                  Jody

                      thanks for the help everyone

i dont know the technicalities but it looks like it may have been sewn on the side, or if it was folded in he did a great job of taking it out. He also had a ring from the same kia soldier, his finger was to swollen to get it so he cut the finger off and kept the ring, unfortunatly he sold the ring, even back then it was worth a lot

Did he cut the ears off too and hang them from a necklace?
