Gents, why would E-bay null and void an auction after its completion? I ask becaue i bid..(and lost!..) on a tunic that went high, but after the auction ended about 20 minutes later, i received an e-mail saying the results were null and void..what is the reason for ebay doing this i wonder?

Ebay
Who knows what goes on out there in EBAY land. I wonder what would happen if you reported an auction for a toothbrush as offensive if they would end it.
I was told they were legally advised to end all auctions of WWII German items. If you remember there was a short time when they would end all auctions related to TR. I think when they figured out they were loosing money, that evolved into allowing auctions that were not "offensive" but they will pull anything like that when there is a complaint. I am sure they are terrified of Bad publicity and law suits and also want to make the World a safer place for us by presenting history in a modified format.
I suspect when auctions end like afterward that there was a time delay and it is that some POS who has reported the auction to EBAY as offensive with the hope they will end it and he will be able to write the seller telling them how much EBAY sucks and how he understands thier plight and will offer a fair price for the FJ Helmet because his DAD lost his eye in Normandy and has always wanted one, especially now that he is dying of Cancer etc.
I am sure this keeps all of them warm and happy out there in Hooville.

I once got a notice from eBan that they had ended an auction after I had already won, paid for and received the item in the mail - I think it was a week or so after the auction ended. If nobody complains, almost anything can go the distance, but there are a lot of shiitheads with no life who do nothing but search for "SS", "RZM", "Nazi", etc. so they can perform eBan's dirty work for them. It's sad, really.

eBay polices their auctions even after they close. It cuts both ways-- one the seller gets a refund on the entire transaction, but he gets a strike on his "permanent record" (lol) So the next infraction could get all his auctions removed and a temporary block or whatever.
Maybe some sellers report themselves after the auction close, to get their fees back.
