    Breeches

    Hi everybody,

Can anyone tell me if it was common for an infantry NCO to wear wool breeches? Where they worn in combat, or strictly in parade situations etc.
And was it against official regulations for an NCO to wear (wool) breeches?
    Thanks all
    Tim

Many pictures exist of Infantry NCOs wearing breeches in the field. Some soldiers were issued breeches. For NCOs, it seems to have been a matter of personal preference.

another thing some senior nco's would do is have their jackboots altered by a cobbler by having the rear seam opened then resewn close after remove some leather to narrow the upper shaft to look more like officers boots and wear them with the breeches

        thank you for your comments,

Interesting story about the adaption of the boots. Were they also worn with officer boots or just EM/NCO boots?
