Convas field pants - what are they?

    Hello All,
I bought these several years ago with a lot of other TR clothing that came from under the floor of house being restored in the Sudetenland. The Heer? shirts I have posted in this thread came with them: http://dev.wehrmacht-awards.com/foru...d.php?t=204862.

Also came with the LW DAK pants in another thread I have listed: http://dev.wehrmacht-awards.com/foru...d.php?t=205072

Made of a gray canvas, maybe from a zeltbahn? The buttons are also a zelt type except for the ones at the waist, which are a black metal with a star like design.

Interior of cargo pocket on leg. Also lined with satin. Marked "Standarte 16" and a town name below. The town name is sewn into the seam, so the stamp was already on the cloth prior to construction of the pocket.

Intersting stuff... look like a Luft cut although I seem to recollect KM trousers (probably French made) with similar buttons. I have also seen photos of KM personnel wearing what appeared to be Luft tropical trousers.

Neat looking trousers Dale. Cut exactly like Luft tropical pants. Are the waist and leg buckles aluminum or steel?

                  Hi Harry,
                  They're steel.

                    Hello,
Bringing these canvas pants back up as I may be selling them. I showed these to a German dealer some time ago who said that they are cut like LW tropical trousers, but in his opinion they were a field made type of pants popular with armored vehicle crewmen. What are your opinions?
                    Thank you,
                    Dale

Interesting trousers; as others mentioned they are cut in the Luftwaffe Uberfallhose style but seem to be made from the mouse gray material that some Panzer combinations were made of.

Thanks, that's pretty much what the dealer said. I think the material is from some type of political zeltbahn due to the Standarte stamp that was on the material prior to construction. My knowledge on pants is very limited, but since these aren't textbook or issue types, I get the feeling there's going to be a lot of guesswork. Or maybe somebody will be able to post a photo of a pair of these in use. I'll do an internet search and see if i can find anything.
