    Wehrpas Schutztasche...

    Hello to all

Got this in from Weitze. In fact this was the only one offered online. I presume that these 'Schutztasche' are rather rare, no? I haven't seen them often on shows. Did every soldier had one of these? Does this sort of covers also existed for the Soldbuch?

    Hope you like it

    greetings

        Yes, Tommy, please post yours!

So, missing the eagle could be a Weimar-area schutztasche?

        Greetings

Here you can see a Soldbuch one. Usually intended to protect the booklet for wear. Several variants existed, from leather ones to simply carton ones.

Jan, use of the Wehrpass was post Weimar Republic so no posible to be a Weimar period piece, but a lot of variants were made as it was sold to men to protect this documents, usually you can find it empty as you gave the Wehrpass to your unit when enlisted and retain the cover, if you were killed or dismissed form the Wehrmacht perhaps you remember your old wallet and used it again.

Angel, thanks for clearing that out! I'm not a document collector, nevertheless I should have known that...

I bought this in the first place to complete a display of a soldier his personal stuff. I thought that this was a nice addition to that.

                  Kind regards

If you are going to make a soldier in active duty display you must show a Soldbuch not a Wehrpass. Soldbuch was carried by the soldier from the moment he enter his first unit till he left the army, at the same moment he gave his Wehrpass to the unit clerck and recovered it when left the army.

We are here to learn and I jave learnt a lot so it's time to return this to others.

Angel, I just put some personal items together in a display case ( shaving machine, cigarettes/tabacco, needles, soap, service-eyeglasses, esbit, photos,etc...). I was already aware that these were not kept by the soldier, but for a display it 's okay to show it like that.

                      greetings

I think you were doing a display with what a soldier carry in combat or service. Nice if you can post a picture of the final display.
