I just picked up this uniform today from a WWII Army vet. He was given it by a buddy who was with the 76th Infantry in France during the war, while the war was still in progress. He thought it all belonged to the same soldier, everything matching. I don't know. Please help me with this. It's in superb condition, although a little wrinkled. There are only two issues with the group: there's a small button missing above the breast eagle, and a steel belt 'retainer' (?) missing on one of the side seams. There are absolutely no moth nips or tears in seams, no rips, no fading, no stains, etc. It's really nice. The slacks are in exc. condition, as well as the ankle guards. Is this an artillery uniform, with the red piping around the collar patches? And please, what rank is it? The lighter of the two wool caps is dated 1940, and both size 44. The belt, does it match/belong to the uniform? There are no markings on it anywhere. The buckle is steel. I don't know anything about uniforms, and very little about anything other than flags and badges/medals. Can someone help me unravel this mystery, and tell me what the uniform and misc. is worth?
