    M43 Tunic Opinions

    Hello All,

I would like to get some opinions on an M43 Tunic. I'm especially interested in the stiching underneath the collar. Instead of the normal zig zag pattern, it has a series of horizontal lines.

    Thanks to all,
    Pat

I've seen this horizontal line stitching feature before. Nice example.

i thought the point of the large zig-zag stitches in collars was to let them stretch in certain ways. wouldn't straight stitching all the way across like this one mess that up? maybe i just don't know enough about sewing.

From what I can see without having it in my hands, a very nice piece. Zig Zag collar stitching was a period technique that can be found in U.S. and British tunics of the same time frame. The stiching, IMO, was to stiffen and reinforce the collar. This tailor, evidently, used a different method.

The stitching on the reverse collar is fine. I have a 43 tunic that features this as well.

                          Nice tunic,

                            Gentlemen,

Thanks to all for your expertise and kind words. I hope to complete the display by adding a compliment of field gear this week, at which time I will post the display and the rest of my collection in the collection display forum.

                            Sincerely,

Nothing wrong with this stitching !!
you can find many type of stitching at the back of the collar...
One more time , is not necessary to be focalized on one detail when the
entire tunic is just fine :lining, materials, marking etc...
