opinion and information plz... (greatcoat)

Hello readers,

I have some pictures of a greatcoat. I want to know if somebody can tell me more about this one. I have been searching a lot on military websites and books but can’t find anything. All the coats in the pictures have 2 pockets. This one have 4 pockets.

Plz look the pictures and give your opinion and information if you know something.

Your coat is unusual in the fact that it is a later war style, watch coat, with the four pockets, but with a dark green collar and a 1938 date? It looks like it is in mint condition? I have a few of these, extreame, cold weather coats but not with a dark green collar.

There is nothing that jumps out to make me think your coat is a repro. Accually your coat is very nice and probably very rare due to the early date and style. I have a LW coat very similar to your coat as far as date and quality of wool.

The ink marking on the inside of the lappel is a tailor marking. I suspect that your coat may have been retailored later in the war to match the war time conditions on the Russian Front? IMHO

I posted a picture of my Heer cold weather coat. Howerver, my coat is very late war, with the four pockets, and it has a hood attached.

Hi Glenn,

The depot markings are on the inside of the inner, breast pocket. It is very hard to post a picture of it because my stupid camera will wash it out if I take a close up of it.

I need to re-take pictures of all my coats!
