    JG2 Richtofen Tunic

    Hi again,
I'm still board here at home on easter . I figured that I would pass the time by taking pictures of tunics that I have had around the house.

This is my JG2 Richtofen, EM, flyers tunic. Nothing special about the tunic. It is a standard 1939, second model tunic with EM insignia. The thing I like about this tunic is that it has a factory applied cuff title and a pilots badge. The tunic is near mint with just a little wear.

Thanks guys for your kind comments. I'm making an effort to take better pictures of my uniforms etc. I'm not a good photographer so this is practice.

This tunic I thought was pretty cool. I like the history of the JG2 Richtofen. The squadron flew the BF109s and the FW190s during the war. The unit had a good combat reputation.

Here is my other second model tunic without any unit/squadron insignia. I think the LW had some of the best looking uniforms for the average EM. I think it has to do with the colored, collar tabs?

Your second tunic has the wrong boards on it (Oberfeldwebel boards vs Feldwebel collar tabs)

                      Gene,

Yes the boards are wrong. This tunic was a vet aquired tunic and the boards were already on it. Either the guy was promoted toward the last days of the war, and dindn't have time to add the gulls or the boards were added just after the war was over? The vet was Mel Lybarger, at the time a B25 pilot and CPT in the Army Air Corps, and during the occupation, even assisted with the Berlin Air Lift.

I didn't want to mess with it even though it is the wrong rank.

                        Hi Steve,
The second tunic is actually a first pattern tunic, or did you just mean second tunic? (second pattern had the ability to button up with six buttons).
                        Thanks,
                        Curtiss

                          Hi Curtiss,

The second tunic is accually a 2nd model tunic. It has the hook and eye set up and chest darts. Also it has the hidden 5th button and neck strap.
