I'm pretty sure I already know the answer but I just wanted to run it past people here first.
My orignial thought this was for French military training with US forces from WWII but it doesn't match any of the other examples. I'm fairly certain that it also isn't for French volunteers in the German military, it doesn't match any examples of anything I was able to find....but I'm posting it in the off chance maybe someone does recognize it!
The only background I have on it is that it came with a collection of mostly US patches from WWII to the early 1950's that also included a few German volunteer shields.
