    What's This Strap??

    Hi Team.
What can anyone tell me about this board on a Veteran aquired Summer tunic? The whole item has NEVER been in a collection before, NEVER been played with or altered, and only surfaced a few months ago locally.
Any information would be gratefully received.
    CHEERS ALL!
    Mark.

That would be for an Official with the equivalent rank of Major. All Officials had the green underlay and 'HV' device. The secondary color would indicate his career. I can't tell what color it is on my monitor (red, carmine or crimson)?

      Hi There,
It's good old fashioned Artillery red. So we're talking Intendanturrat?

That is one of the possibilities. It could also be Artillery and Measuring Service or Agricultural Service.

          Interesting boards . . . .

Hi, Actually they are Luftwaffe style Administration shoulder boards with an Army "HV" applied. Diane

Diane's right. An army board would have the green cord added to the top of the Russia braid.

Hi Mark, tell David that I have found one of these shoulder boards amongst my junk in this exact colour configuration but for a Captain. This is a veteran brought back board. Some where in North Africa or Italy the Kiwis came up against who ever wore this piping combination and got the opportunity to sourvenir them.

Diane's indication of Luftwaffe is worthy of investigation ? That is a possibility I had not thought of

                Good thread, Chris

Now here is a possibility I have just thought of, a Luftwaffe board with Heer "HV" device used by Army administration officials in North Africa because they could not get the proper ones because of supply problems. We know the DAK ran very short of boards. What do others think ?

I see there is one of these shoulder straps on the Collectors Guild site described as " Administrative Officals Shoulder Board" which is stated as being the pre-1940 pattern for an administrative official with the equivalent rank of an army Oberleutnant. Is the Collectors Guild correct with this description ?
