    FHH Cypher

Here is a piece that I have and I don't have a loose, known original to comapre it to. It's non-magnetic, so I assume it is zinc and it weighs about 2-3 grams. A post, in another forum, says that pins being of diagonal placement is a good sign.

        Schulterklappen-

Thanks for posting those pictures. I'm starting to feel better about these, although I would feel MUCH better if I could see clear a scan/pic of the back of a known original

They're non-metallic, and very, very light (I don't have a scale to weigh them) so that's a good sign. The material is the same thickness all around, another good sign.

This is the second set of ciphers I've purchased (the first set was a set of LAH ciphers which turned out to be cast copies - i.e. FAKES! - which I got stuck with) so I don't have anything original to compare these to.

        Thanks again,
        Rob.

          Hi Rob,

Die striking produces flash also especially if the die is worn. Below is a Germania cypher produced by a worn die, you can see how chewed the edge of the cypher is.

Here is a link to a previous discussion on the subject. I hope it is of some use.

          Yours, Guy.
