The Schwedter eagle looks like it is probably an original made of iron and not brass. Is it magnetic? Unfortunately it appears that the piping on the hat was colored with a marker as it was white-piped and now is light yellow as I see it.

In the close-up image of the eagle look at the piping closely. It looks to be yellow and white right next to the eagle. If this were a golden yellow-piped cavalry hat the yellow would be a deeper yellow color.

Yes, the cockade looks original as well as the aluminum eagle.
