    U.S. Navy Flag - ERA?

I recently acquired this flag at a flea market. The seller told me he acquired it from a vet who served 30 years and retired in the early 70’s. The flag is double sided, feels like silk, appears to me hand sewn and does not glow under a UV light. It looks to me like it is Japanese made (but that’s just a guess.). Any thoughts about the era, etc. would be appreciated.

    Hello fredswiss:
Nice indoor and parade version of the official Navy flag,
authorized by U.S. Presidential order dated 24 April 1959:

    FOTW
:"The flag for the United States Navy is 4 feet 4 inches hoist by
5 feet 6 inches fly, of dark blue material, with yellow fringe, 2 1/2
inches wide. In the center of the flag is a device 3 feet 1 inch overall
consisting of the inner pictorial position of the seal of the Department
of the Navy (with the exception that a continuation of the sea has
been substituted for the land area), in its proper colors within a
circular yellow rope edging, all 2 feet 6 inches in diameter above a
yellow scroll inscribed "United States Navy," in dark blue letters."

Take a look inside the pole slip sleeve for a dated maker tag.

Thanks OFW. I greatly appreciate your feedback. I found the tag in the sleeve that you mentioned. It’s dated ‘69. Thanks again, Fred
