    Hj banner-multi-pce., separate swaz

I'd thought hj banners were neary nearly always 1. totally printed, or 2. printed but with separate circle. this one - double-sided and about 9.5 x 5 feet - also has a separate swaz sewn on.

the thinnish corner loops have spring clips, which I was told by a colleague here in '15 were correct and period.

there are no inkstamps, tags or other markings, making me think it's early. (so does the extra [?] red space around the diamond versus what I take to be the usual 'textbook' proportions).

despite all this and a few white-tape repairs, overall it looks good to me. how about to you? thanks a lot for the eyes-on.

It looks good to me. I see no glaring issues with it. Usually you see printed, or a sewn on diamond with printed swaz, but surely there must be examples that are 3 piece construction.

I cringe at seeing shoes on the textile.

me too but these were the new dress loafers, and clean. the real Q: do you find the FLAG cringeworthy, too? thanks!

thanks much, jason. is this as I suspect 'early' and irregular?

I would say its an earlier example. It would of taken more time and obviously more materials to construct this flag. Honestly, I can say I have never given this matter to much thought and your question got me curious. I did a few Google searches and found an example of an HJ company flag on Oakleaf militaria that consists of a 3 piece construction as well. I think you have a nice salty example. For me the repairs do not detract from the banner. If that flag could only talk.

thanks again, jason! I guess if the tape's gone low-tack (dried out) and is now easily liftable, a decent repair's possible. anyone else - br.james, OFG?

                              Hello inimicus:
IMO your post #6a indeed shows original snap hooks
on this HJ banner - DE standard tassel type hooks.
