You have done a great job! The flag should be safe until you can display it permanently. Thom

Aww come on, don't get me depressed, I'm trying to proof these flags from all harms but mother time. So far, I have never seen a moth, let alone a moth hole on any of the textiles in the house. This includes a few wool military blankets and a few wool reenactment uniforms. Do you think I still need to take that precaution?

...and a dumb question. Everyone ends their comments with EC. What does that stand for?

I was taking your advice, adding more details about my situation, and seeing if you still think it is necessary. I still don't know what EC stands for.

I think EC is the poster's initials - his name is, after all, "Mr. EC 27777" -
                  mrec27777 Just a guess.

Goes to show my poor attention span. I could have sworn that a lot of people were leaving those initials, so I thought it meant something. I was probably just seeing numerous posts that he left and seeing EC. Ha, that makes it weird of me asking his initials.

I decided to tone down the level of roll storage I was using. I’m just going to wrap the tube, wrap the flag with one sheet of tissue and tie it to the roll. No more muslin over that as I will be relying on the box to protect it. This way they will be easier to pull and repack.

Could someone suggest the quantities I would need to put in my roll storage boxes? The boxes are 40"x7"x7", and 60"x7"x7"? Suggested brands?

I hate to beat this dead horse, but if I don't talk about this with you folks , my wife has to hear it...and she doesn't want to hear it.

I decided to go the lazy approach. All the steps and cost or materials is wearing on me. Instead I'm going to cover the 4.5" tube with 3" cotton stockinette stretched over the tube (stretches to twice its size). Then I'll roll the flag around the tube without tissue paper, tie it in place, chuck some mothballs in, close the box and call it a day. It will be easier to remove when needed without fighting with the outer muslin cover and tissue.

I'd appreciate any examples on how you store your flags (details).

I was told by a fellow collector, you can leave wool items in the lit open space of a room.....Moths prefer laying their eggs in dark environments.....The larvae being what eats your material.....So far I've had pretty good luck......Some of my other items I keep in a cedar chest.....Cedar balls/pieces can also be used instead of moth balls......Bodes

I decided to change storage methods. The roll storage boxes were starting to take up room. Also it was a pain to roll. I decided on a huge flat acid free box. I can lay the flags flat and stack them.
