    Best way to display Flag?

    Hello everyone,

I just purchased/recieved my first flag today. It's a KM battle flag and it's beautiful. The flag is enormous, 6 feet wide x roughly 11 feet long. I want to hang it in my collection room lenghth-wise to cover one entire wall. Does anyone have a suggestion for hanging such a large flag? I don't want to "tack" it to the wall as I believe this will cause it to distort and I don't want any holes in such a prestine example. Any help is greatly appreciated.

P.S. I purchased this from Ranger and pics are available on the uniforms and headgear estand forum under his post GERMAN FLAGS. Thanks again.

here is how you should do it sence it's so huge.

you know the wooden clothes line clips? well you get acouple dozen of them and drill a hole in one of the arm's at the top so you can put a nail/pin/tack or?
through it, and into the wall, then tack them about one to two feet apart on an even line on the wall then just clip the FLAG into the wooden clothes line clips and there you have it!!! If you don't want the wood to touch the FLAG then cut a little piece of plastic and put it in between the FLAG and the clothes pin of the clip. it will hold it fine once you get afew clips going, and it won't damage your FLAG.

ok, here is what i'm talking about. the clip's look like this at top. if you want you can tack the clip's to a thin running board to keep it all together, and if you want to move it you just take out the couple of nails/or holding the board to the wall, then the clips and flag stay all together. you can stain the boards and clips if you want or paint them? it really works!!!! I have a few heavy weavings hanging like that, so if it will hold them it will hold a flag..

        tip

also, try to keep it away from sunlight. and turn it every 6 months, so you don't have one red side and one pink one. try to keep the dust away, becouse dust is the food of small organisms!

Buy a ship......sorry couldn't resist that one, a thing to bear in mind, if your house has a lot of sun exposure, think about getting some laminated glass to replace what you have, as the interlayer in it reduces UV by 98%.

As we know that UV light is the one that causes most damage

Thanks Si, The room that my collection is in gets no direct sunlight. Partly because of the other pieces in the room and partly because my wife doesn't want to open the blinds so everyone can see the enormous KM flag hanging on the wall. And believe me if I could get her to agree to a boat I'd already have one!
