Hello Gents,
I have just acquired a one-sided banner measuring 16 feet by 9 feet. Near excellent condition, but with no maker markings whatsoever. Tests UV negative. Great and complete stitching.
The flag was given by a Mayor in Belgium to Captain J.C. McBride of the Cameron Highlanders of Ottawa in 1944. It apparently hung in a Headquarters building until the Canadians entered the town. The banner eventually passed to a military museum in Ontario, where I picked it up. I also have a wartime map case inscribed to Captain McBride.
I would appreciate further info on the banner, as I've been told that it has battle-flag markings, but on a banner. I'd like to know more, before I set a selling price on it.
Cheers,
Bill
