Different nations flags

I am in the process of starting to collect original period national flags from the main nations at war during WW2. I actually have no idea where to start and what to look for. Surfing the Net was not very successfull. Can any one please provide some guidance and advice as well as possible vendors. Many thanx Jacques

Hello jacquesf:
I did that back when I first started collecting old flags, but
traded most of them off when I discovered soldier trooped
unit flags. As to your question, my suggestion would be
to start with the flags from the US, UK, Germany, Italy, Japan,
and the USSR, as many are obtainable from lots of online
sources. Only trick is to be able to date the available flags by
construction, material, and markings - thus in the case of 3rd
Reich examples my "wmtf" pinned thread here on the WAF.
If you have specific questions on a particular flag just post
them here on the WAF flag forum and helpful comments and
opinions will soon follow. Welcome to the world of old flags!

Thanx for the advice.That is more or less the area I had in mind. I have a nice TR war flag and a British Union Jack that is of a decommisioned war ship or so the story goes. I am totally out of my depth here. Can you maybe suggest online scources for Soviet Russia, Italy and the USA. Japan is not that difficult.

The "Military Trader" has monthly lists of site URL's, and
both in the "MT" and here on the WAF you can list wanted
items, and likewise find links to lots of sponsor sites. My
own preference when seeking out information and sources
is to use google.com search with specific key words which
help narrow the results found. Just takes the time to look.
