Railroad Eagle - Need Opinions Please...

What do you guys think of this railroad eagle? I'm thinking of buying it, but I know there are a ton of fakes out there.

Forgot the measurements...

Wing Tip to Wing Tip is about 34.5 inches. Top of head to bottom of wreath is 15 inches.

What I look out for is casting marks, such as pitting, usually with cast fakes you would find alot of pitting around the finer detailed areas ..ie head, and feet... Im not saying that ever eagle with pitting is a fake, but it can be a common feature on reproduction.

im sure there are a few experts on this forum, that will let you know if its good or bad..... maybe some extra close ups of the eagles head would help.

I wanted to post a comment or observation about the posts, Looking at your reverse shot showing the Left wing where the screw post should have been and this one, of course does not have it. notice at least from the photo that the wing is not at all displaced from the "removal" of the post screws/fasteners.

I believe this to be a bad one. Just my opinion, which is pretty novice with this. I look forward to seeing what other, more experienced collectors have to say.

Thanks for all the feedback! I'm going to get some more photos (closeup shots of the head/breast area, and better shots of the wreath area) and post here as soon as I can.

I believe you eagle is 100% legit. It is rare to find one in this size by this maker.

I wish others would comment on this since I put new photos up, but I guess there are only so many people here who have experience collecting these things.

The quality of this piece shows well in your pictures and is lacking on much of the fakes that are seen. Additionally; The APAG mark is known as a good one on originals.

I can say that I have seen this maker before and I do like the detail on it.

I personally like it...

These can cost between $1000 - $3000US but don't take me on that, others may differ in opinion.
