This is a long shot, but....

I recall a few years ago that color film was found of political festivities of some kind in Munich. The entire city was decked out in all sorts of drapes and banners that I had never seen before. Hitler was in the films, as was Robert Ley wearing a white Reichleiter tunic. And Rob's eagle banner reminds me of some of the banners that I saw in that film.

I'm pretty sure that the film (which was shot by an ameteur photographer) is out on dvd.

The photo book of the cultural event is called "Weekend in Munich. Art, Propaganda and Terror in the Third Reich" by Robert S. Wistrich. It is based on the colour movies made by amateur film groups of the pomp and ceremony that accompanied the opening of the House of German Art in 1939. It is available on Amazon. Great uniform shots, including Hitler in white tunic and gold NSDAP brocade belt. Don't know where the DVD can be found.

the OT flag is a nice one, only in my opinion the American vets destroyed it by writing their names on it! I realy hate that practice.

I know other collectors of your same opinion about the negative connotation regarding US GI signed flags, but I think that unique soldier added inscriptions put a historical context to a flag beyond just having a plain flag - the collecting price can even be enhanced when a flag is signed by those who captured it, at least according to some realized online auction results I've seen. A unit flag I like more than just the typical unsigned example is shown below.</center><center>

Here's a banner I've been researching for some time. It's signed by 45 Soldiers of the 104th Infantry Regiment, 26th Infantry Division. Unfortunately, no date or location was added.

the photo to your posting via an html tag if you have it online already.
Have you tried doing a google.com search on the signed flag names,
as sometimes you can find via same contact information on one of
the signers, or at least an obituary which can still yield someone who
might know more about the flag or when/where the specific person or
unit served and thus maybe where the flag was captured? </center>

The Japanese writing on your battle flag has one character missing but basicaly what it says is GERMANY.

I saw a postcard recently with a larger hanging banner type flag of the eagle flag. at a parade reception. It was clearly a flag for who ever (AH?) was arriving.

GREAT FLAGS!!!

One captured flag (around 11.3 feet X 5 feet) in my collection:



One side is clean but the other brings 29 signatures of GI´s who captured it. They were from the Company H, 415 Reg., 104 Infatry Division (the Timberwolf Division). Most of the names can be clearly read and most of the guys also wrote where they came from!

I have a battle flag signed by 66 members of the 76th Infantry Division. 13 of them put thier address on the flag and I wrote to them all. I got replies from four families and spoke to one of the soldiers when his daughter gave me thier phone number. Also have had volumes of correspondence from LTC (ret ) Jay Hamilton who is a member of the 76th Infantry Div Association.

Fantastic piece of history.

Different Banners and Flags

Thats a great collection.Members told me about the DVD when I was researching my banner that I had on this forum with the gold leafs. The name of the DVD is GOOD MORNING MR HITLER.It is an interesting DVD.It has great uniform pictures also. Found it by searching the web.
