Mg34/42 Gurttrommel storage box

I've had this for awhile, and while I typically leave stuff untouched I'm tempted to clean this up and repaint as none of the original is remaining (well, almost), looking for feedback to get other opinions before I do anything, sometimes it's better to get an outside opinion before doing something you end up regretting....

Agree. If You want to do something, You can try give it a short wash with deruster and rough sponge.

Same here - leave it alone and enjoy in "as is" original condition. Remember, this stuff is 70+ years old, so wear and tear is expected!

Leave well alone as its actually a nice piece, if it had been painted sky blue post war with " Bills Bolts Box" written across the top in felt pen I would agree with a strip down.

I might do the oxalic acid solution if I was going to do anything, but the responses have encourage me to do minimal. Is the Oxalic treatment my best option for a minimal approach? Thanks ,Chris...

Vinegar might also do.

PS. Chris, if not much more paint shows...I would repaint, just my opinion.
